Some of the most moving moments in my work have nothing to do with new clothes. They happen when a bride unfolds something old, her mother's wedding saree, a grandmother's dupatta, a weave that has lived in the family for decades, and asks whether it can be part of her day. The answer is almost always yes, and the result is almost always more beautiful than anything bought new, because it carries something money cannot buy.
